Marsha Lee Jones (Samples)

Marsha Lee Jones Samples, 73, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Marsha was born on April 22, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio to parents Phyllis Lee Jones and Stuart Hiram Jones. When she was six years old, Marsha and her family relocated from the Baltimore, MD area to Huntsville. As a member of the Huntsville High School Class of 1962, Marsha was a 10th grader when she was fortunate to meet her best friend and future husband of 51 years, Kyle Kent Samples. Marsha, along with Kyle, was also a proud graduate of Auburn University. Marsha worked many years for the U.S. Government in the Office of Personnel Management, the Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Department of the Army before retiring in 2003. Marsha was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard. She was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church for 46 years as well as a volunteer in the community in various organizations over her lifetime of living in Huntsville. Marsha particularly enjoyed the Meals on Wheels route she and Kyle delivered together monthly. In addition to her husband, Kyle, Marsha is survived by her daughter, Lee Anne Samples Bryant (Jason Bryant); son, Stuart Hiram Jones Samples (Rachael Verschoore Samples); granddaughters, Elizabeth Ryan Samples, Wren SiHui Lee Bryant and Sloan Marie Samples; sister, Sheila Isabel Jones Robbins (Dave Robbins); nieces, Elizabeth Lee Robbins Edwards and Rebecca Calloway Robbins Derrick; and her beloved animal family members, her dog Mo and her cat, BC. She was also fortunate to have many lifelong friends and co-workers whom she cared for deeply. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2018, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 12200 Bailey Cove Road, Huntsville, AL. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Betty Jayne Bullard (Creel)

Marsha was one of the most unpretentious person I have met in my 76 years. She was such a blessing to the class of 1962. She will be missed but not forgotten. Bettie Bullard Creel
